AI AND THE SOUL OF PHOTOGRAPHY – A personal perspective

For years, photography was more than just a profession for me. It was an expression of love – for light, for shapes, for people, for moments that are fleeting and precious. Every click was a dialogue between my vision and the world, every shadow, every nuance an expression of what I felt.
Then came artificial intelligence. Suddenly, a world of possibilities opened up, but also a world of questions. Fears arose: Will it replace me? Is my creativity still unique if algorithms can generate images that are perfect and limitless? It is a question of meaning, an inner examination: Who am I as a creative soul in a world that needs to be reimagined?
And yet – this is precisely where the opportunity lies. AI is not a substitute, but a mirror, a tool, a catalyst. It challenges me to reflect on my own path, to examine what values I hold, what authenticity really means. I am learning to reinvent myself, to define my vision even more clearly and to deepen my language.
It is an invitation to experience love anew: love for my profession, which is not measured in perfection or control, but in attention, dedication, empathy and the ability to make people and stories visible. Love for the work that challenges us, but also rewards us with infinite creativity.
Photography is undergoing radical transformation. But in this change, I discover potential that was previously hidden. It is a journey to myself: to my fears, to my joy, to my creative truth. AI opens up paths we did not yet know, but it cannot feel, cannot love, cannot see the small, human imperfections that bring a picture to life.
In the end, the decision remains: how much of myself do I bring to it? What stories do I want to tell? How do I want to see the world and speak to it? AI can accompany, inspire, accelerate – but the soul of photography remains with me, in the love for what I do and in the willingness to constantly rediscover, create and feel.
